On Thanksgiving eve, 2021, three Brooklyn kids , the 12, 13, & 14 year old, Brendan, Kyi-el & Kawun were playing with a basketball where the ball hit the camera damaging it in the process. The business, owned by an ex-police officer Kruythoff Forrester than exited the business and allegedly chased the trio for 7-minutes with his gun out.The ex-officer was then allegedly arrested for the incident and had been detained at the 73rd Precinct in Brownsville. According to The City, NYPD Community Affairs Bureau Chief Jeffrey Maddrey at the time reportedly ordered the ex-cop’s arrest to be voided. Hours later Forrester was released and no charges were pressed at the time.The report states that officials say he was licensed to have a pistol, and that Forrester denied drawing or pointing his gun at the boys.Despite the video being released, nothing has happened. They tell their side of the story, and address what accountability looks like for them. They are asking for a public apology,They are organizing for a Youth March April 10 in Brooklyn starting at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Demands beings asked are: transparent investigation by the attorney generals audience for Forrester actions, and actions by NYPD. Resignation by Chief Maddrey and Chief Scott Henderson. Retraction & correction to members of the media who allegedly misrepresented the incident.

The indictment was confirmed by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office. Jefferson’s family attorney, Lee Merritt took to Twitter to express how he feels about the indictment. “Remain cautious that a conviction and appropriate sentence is still a long way away”.Bodycam footage was released where Dean is not seen identifying himself as a police officer or knocking on the front door of Jefferson’s home. Reports state that Jefferson was found with a gun in her home but police stated that she has every right to protect herself because she was licensed to carry. Atatiana Jefferson was 28- years- old when she was killed.

For 27 years, Rikers Island has been used to place some of the most notorious criminals, but now the city wants to turn it into a public space. Reported on NYDN, the city has taken the first step to making that possible. The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, the Department of Correction and City Council Speaker Corey Johnson filed a land-use application to get the plan in motion. The city wants to transfer all of the Riker’s Island inmates into four facilities by 2026. Director of the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice Elizabeth Glazer said this transition is another step closer to building a safer and fairer justice system. “New Yorkers are witnessing proof of how our city is turning from a model of safety that relied primarily on enforcement and incarceration to one that relies on building on community strength and partnership.”Councilman Keith Powers, chair of the City Council’s Criminal Justice Committee also said closing Riker’s Island is an “opportunity to overhaul our criminal justice system.”“Guaranteeing that this land can never again be used to operate a jail is a significant and binding step in that plan.”Prior to 1992, Riker’s Island was used as a juvenile detention center. The <a href="https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/breaking-clark-atlanta-student-was-choked-smothered-warrants-say/GQj4Oo9j3EjcAnI4Tc71fM/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AJC</a> reports that Crawford and her roommate Jordyn Jones had got into a physical altercation that led to Jones’s boyfriend, Barron Brantley to interfere and strangled her to death. Jones’ warrant states that she also smothered Crawford with a black trash bag. Both Brantley and Jones put Crawford’s remains in a plastic bin and took her body to Exchange Park in Decatur, Georgia, where they put her body in the woods. After a missing person report was filed by Crawford’s family, Jones would tell the police that she didn’t know where her roommate was. Brantley confessed to the murder and informed police where they could find the body. We <a href="https://www.hot97.com/news/hot-97-now/jordyn-jones-has-been-officially-charged-murder-alexis-crawford" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported </a>that the two were arrested on separate days and have both been charged with felony murder. Photo Credit – Twitter ScreenshotThe body of the Clark Atlanta University student, Alexis Crawford, was found dead in a park on Friday (November 8) and Barron Brantley has been charged with her murder. <a href="https://www.essence.com/news/alexis-crawford-body-found/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reports</a> state that Crawford was last seen by her mother and sister on Wednesday while they were on FaceTime. Her family filed a missing person report on Friday after Crawford was a no show for class or work. The authorities suspect that Crawford’s roommate, Jordyn Jones, the girlfriend of Brantley, was also a part of the murder. <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/09/us/clark-atlanta-student-found-dead/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">CNN</a> also reported that days before Crawford’s death, that she filed a police report against Brantley describing that he was making unwanted advances to her, such as kissing and touching. Jones was listed as a witness. As of now, there is no motive behind the murder. Brantley’s court hearing is scheduled for November 22nd, 2019. The HBCU announced that they will come together with the University of Bahamas to allow students who have been displaced to spend the fall semester on their campus tuition-free.President William R. Harvey said in a statement, “I think this agreement is something that can be helpful to a great number of students and families and is part of something I’ve tried to do my entire career, helping people to achieve and meet their goals.” The students from the University of Bahamas will also receive room and board for a semester with the option of staying after the fall semester is over and paying standard tuition and fees.

According to reports, Walmart plans on ending the sale of handguns in Alaska, they will also discontinue the sale of short-barrel rifle and handgun ammunition in stores nationwide. An announcement was made today by the store’s president and CEO, Doug McMillon.The article says McMillon wants Walmart to gear its focus “toward long-barrel deer rifles and shotguns, supplying much of the ammunition they require and providing hunting and sporting accessories and apparel, “We have a long heritage as a company of serving responsible hunters and sportsmen and women, and we’re going to continue doing so,” McMillon said.“The changes will reduce Walmart’s market share of ammunition from around 20 percent to a range of about 6-9 percent, according to the memo. Of its nearly 5,000 U.S. stores, about half sell firearms.”Walmart isn’t allowing customers to openly carry firearms into its stores or Sam’s Clubs in states where “open carry” was permitted unless law enforcement authorized it. If you have a permit for a weapon then you’d be allowed to carry it. Pantaleo is responsible for the murder of Eric Garner, as he held him in an illegal chokehold after the victim screamed that he could not breathe.
